Beyoncé once again blew us away with her breathtaking new visual album, Black is King — and blessed us with some truly incredible fashion and beauty looks while doing so. According to the movie’s costume designer and Beyoncé’s longtime stylist, Zerina Akers, the project was a labor of love and custom couture, and all of the outfits worn by Bey are currently stored in a unit for safekeeping, including 45 tables of jewelry.

Zerina discussed the wardrobe behind the project with British Vogue, sharing that she used a mix of custom pieces from established designers like Balmain, Riccardo Tisci, and Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli, as well as smaller designers like Tongoro Studio and jewelry designer Lafalaise Dion. Zerina also revealed the stylists helped deconstruct and re-envision existing pieces into the works of art we saw onscreen.
