Today (September 4) might be Beyoncé’s birthday but she’s the one bearing the gifts, announcing an additional $1 million in funds that will go towards Black-owned small businesses through BeyGOOD.
BeyGOOD is Beyoncé’s philanthropic organization that aims to give back to her community, from making sure Flint has clean water in 2016 to providing supplies to vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 crisis.
The Black-owned Small Business Impact Fund was announced in July in partnership with the NAACP to empower and assist small businesses who have been negatively impacted by recent events. The first round of recipients, announced on August 18, included 20 Black-owned small businesses, ranging from tennis academies to barbershops. A $10,000 grant was distributed to these small businesses across the United States.
