Major fashion brands are boycotting social media giant Facebook, citing its failure to monitor hate speech and misinformation. PatagoniaThe North Face, and outdoor equipment retailer REI are some of the companies who have publicly announced they will be joining the “Stop Hate For Profit” campaign started by Color of Change alongside the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), and various other civil rights groups in an effort to stop tech companies from profiting off their user bases’ vitriol.

On Wednesday, June 17 Color of Change unveiled  the initiative with a statement that called for brands to end marketing on Facebook for the entire month of July. “What would you do with $70 billion? We know what Facebook did,” the Stop Hate For Profit website reads.
