The GAP x Telfar collaboration, which was announced back in January, has officially been canceled. The news comes after Kanye West revealed his new 10-year partnership with the GAP on June 26.
When the GAP x Telfar partnership was unveiled earlier this year, GAP’s head of design, John Caruso, lauded the brands’ future joint venture as a win for “accessibility, democracy, universal basics, and affordability.” Though originally rumored to release by the end of 2020, it seems like the collaboration was halted due to COVID-19 and now, canceled for good.
On April 7, Business of Fashion profiled Telfar Clemens and his business partner, Babak Radboy, about the partnership. “We [Telfar and Gap] have to stick together and figure out what we all want to do as a team, moving forward,” Telfar said. “And if the environment allows us to continue, how does that work?”
